Apple's individual contributor track is internally called ICT. You maintain two heaps, a max-heap of the lower half and a min-heap of the upper half, balanced so their sizes differ by at most one. On insert you push to the appropriate heap based on a comparison with the max-heap's top, then rebalance by moving the top from the larger heap to the smaller one. The median is the top of the larger heap, or the average of the two tops when sizes are equal. Insert is O(log n) because of the heap operations, and median is O(1). Apple interviewers may ask you to extend this to a sliding window of the last k values, which forces you to support deletion from a heap, typically through a lazy invalidation map.

You run a depth-first search and color each node white, gray, or black. Gray means in the current recursion stack, black means fully explored. When DFS visits a gray node you have found a back edge, and the gray node is on the cycle. To return an actual node, you keep a parent map during the DFS and walk back from the discovery point until you hit the same node again. The complexity is O(V plus E) and the memory is O(V).
